Artificial Intelligence (AI) implementation has become increasingly prevalent in various aspects of our lives. AI relies on the process of datafication to progressively support humans in decision-making processes across various aspects of life, using personal data to generate valuable insights. As technology becomes more integrated into our cities and daily lives, privacy concerns arise. Ubiquitous surveillance raises worries regarding individuals’ desire for limited disclosure and control over their personal information. The misuse of private data in AI poses risks to both individuals and communities, exposing them to the influence of external entities, such as public authorities or private companies (Fontes et al., 2022). It is essential to focus on the development and implementation of robust ethical frameworks, invest in comprehensive workforce training programs, and prioritize transparency and accountability in AI systems to mitigate the risks of AI implementation in our lives.
Artificial intelligence develops in every aspect of human life, so solid ethical governance and regulations are needed to keep AI innovation in the realm of human morality. AI continues to experience developments in any field, such as autonomous vehicles, lethal weapons, and robotics, which pose a serious challenge so as not to destabilize the social life of society (Taeihagh, 2021). Sooner or later, AI operates side by side with human life in helping many jobs so that the development of AI must be in accordance with the values and morals of society. To meet these requirements, standards and regulations are needed to conduct research on AI so that emerging innovations remain linear with applicable ethics. These guidelines are set universally as AI becomes a constantly evolving technology in every part of the world.
The workforce needs comprehensive education and training on the advancement and application of AI so that they can maintain their existence in the professional world and take advantage of AI innovations to improve their own capabilities. This program becomes important because artificial intelligence has a high probability of replacing routine work so that humans lose opportunities for these job vacancies (Hunt et al., 2022). The rise of automation in several business processes causes people to lose jobs and increase unemployment. However, like a double-edged sword, AI can provide promising benefits if utilized properly. Humans can turn away from these routine jobs and take opportunities to upgrade themselves and occupy jobs that are challenging and irreplaceable by AI. Even though this breakthrough requires intensive training and education, with new innovations by utilizing AI, humans can open up wider job opportunities.
Transparency and accountability are critical aspects of responsible AI implementation. In AI governance, accountability is essential because AI systems are responsible for tasks involving predictions and decisions, which necessitates their responsibility and liability for actions and outcomes (Novelli et al., 2023). Transparency involves making AI algorithms, decision-making processes, and data utilization transparent to users and stakeholders, enabling individuals to understand how AI systems work and trust their decisions. Furthermore, responsibility is equally important for ensuring responsible AI implementation by establishing clear lines of accountability for developers, operators, and stakeholders, making them accountable for the actions and impacts of AI systems. It is crucial to have mechanisms in place to address issues such as biases, errors, and unintended outcomes, promoting responsibility in AI implementation.
Mitigating the risks of AI implementation in our lives is important to optimize the benefits of AI. To manage these risks effectively, focus on robust ethical frameworks, invest in comprehensive workforce training programs, and prioritize transparency and accountability in AI systems is important. Stakeholders must develop AI in a manner that aligns with societal values, protects individual rights, and fosters trust. So that we can utilize the potential of AI while minimizing its risks, thereby creating a more ethical and beneficial AI-powered future.
