In 2008, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences changed its name to the Faculty of Science and Technology, based on the Rector’s Decree of Universitas Airlangga No. 3294/J03/OT/2008. The hope behind this change in the faculty’s name was to align and support the university’s vision to compete more effectively on the international stage, particularly in the development of science and technology. In the same year, Universitas Airlangga introduced five new study programs within the FST, including three undergraduate programs (Information Systems, Biomedical Technology, Environmental Science and Technology) and two graduate programs (Biology, Chemistry).

     The Bachelor of Information Systems program was established based on the Rector’s Decree of Universitas Airlangga No. 4311/JO3/OT/2008 on March 10, 2008. The purpose of establishing this program was to produce professionals in the field of information systems. The program started accepting students from its inception. In its first year, new student admissions were only conducted through the Independent Admission pathway, with a quota of 60 students. Currently, the program admits 120 students per cohort each academic year through three admission pathways.

     The quality of graduates is one of the most important outcomes for any study program. The quality of graduates is generally assessed based on the satisfaction of the stakeholders who act as users of the graduates, including government entities at the central and regional levels, state-owned enterprises, and private companies. The relevance of graduate competencies and soft skills to the needs and demands of the job market can be analyzed based on the curriculum in effect at the study program.
